Body bars and lip balms share essentially the same ingredients. Check out the ingredients list on both and compare. They’re just packaged differently. In the winter, I prefer to use a body stick since it’s convenient to apply especially when you’re using it frequently. Besides, my lotion is cold. Here’s a simple recipe for an unscented body bar, perfect for winter dry skin relief.
- Ingredients by weight for a 2 oz bar:
- 0.5 oz beeswax
- 1 oz coconut oil
- 0.5 oz almond oil
- 1/8 tsp vitamin E oil (optional)
- Tools:
- Small, heatproof container. I like the stainless steel creamers with a spout
- Saucepan large enough to hold the container
- Lotion tubes. You can also you lip balm tubes.
- Directions:
- Combine oil and beeswax in a heatproof container and melt the mixture in a hot water bath.
- Add the vitamin E oil just before or immediately after removing it from the stove.
- Work fast as the mixture will solidify quickly. If that happens, simply re-melt in the water bath.
- Pour into lotion tube.
