Coconut oil is really useful in many ways. Aside from cooking, it can be applied on skin and hair. Been doing that for such a long time and it always give me positive results. However, I'm planning to switch brands. I heard about http://products.mercola.com/coconut-oil/ Has anyone tried it before? Or do you have any recommendation?

Thank so much for this Recipe, I will definitely try them. I have been searching high and low for a FACE lotion instead of face creams without preservatives.
Dear please let me know of any skin clearing oil and anti-inflammation oils which I can include and where I can get a good emulsifying wax in the England-UK.

I also have a very good source of natural Shea Butter.

Thanks again. Faith

thanks so much,
she showed me the jar today and while the top of the lotion had no discoloration, you could see the sides of the jar there were little darker specks in it, wasn't sure if it was mold or separation of some sort. but then you could see in the lid around the edges the same spots - looked moldy to me!
thanks again :)

@nikole - discoloration is a sure sign that it's gone bad. Yes, some lotion can go bad in less than a month, some can last longer even unrefrigerated. Temperature, humidity, how the lotion is stored, etc... all factor in. Think of homemade breads/muffins; it would last a lot longer at room temp in a cold dry climate than in a humid, warm place. Shelf life varies greatly. I go in more detail here: http://www.wabisabibaby.com/blog/make-your-own-lotions/shelf-life/

would you be able to describe how this actually looks if its going bad??
i had made some that i shared with a co-worker and she said she did not have it refrigerated and now there's "mold-like" darkness to it?? or like a gray color.
she hasn't had it but about a month, will it go bad that quickly out of the fridge?
thanks so much!

TRY CANDELLILA WAX, CARNUBA WAX, YOU CAN ALSO ADD IN SOME COCOA BUTTER. ALL OILS GO BAD EVENTUALLY. MOST PEOPLE USE ROSEMARY OIL EXTRACT (ROSEMARY OLEORESIN)l TO HELP KEEP OILS FROM GOING RANCID BY NATURALLY PRESERVING IT AND ALSO VITAMIN E HELPS STABILIZE OILS AND MAKE THEM LAST LONGER BECAUSE IT IS A ANTIOXIDANT. THE ONLY REASON SOME PEOPLE DO NOT WANT TO USE BEESWAX IS BECAUSE IT IS NOT VEGAN. BEESWAX IS NATURAL THOUGH.

@Claudia - directly substituting beeswax for e.wax will not work. See comments.

Hey, guys, Has anyone ever experienced coconut oil turning "bad"? Even newly purchased, the coconut oil I got from Tropical Traditions had a bad, soapy taste to it. Couldn't cook with it. I love that company's "Coconut Cream Concentrate", which I use to cook with all the time. But their oil was so strong, I had to give it to my soap friend, who makes soap out of bacon grease. I told her, soap out of this coconut oil can't turn out any funkier than from bacon grease!
