Basic Night Cream – Protective

protective-night-cream
Facial night creams are meant to repair your skin from daily wear (makeup, environment, etc) and restore its elasticity. As such, they are ultra-rich with oils. As with all my creams and lotions, night creams fall into two categories: protective or moisturizing.

This basic protective night cream recipe contains beeswax. With beeswax, the cream forms a protective layer on the skin to seal in moisture. It is meant to be used at night or for short periods of time only as it can also clog up pores. You should rinse off afterward to let your skin breathe again.

    Directions:

  • In a glass measuring cup, weigh and combine the oil, wax, borax, and lecithin.
  • Melt the mixture in a hot water bath.
  • Add glycerin and hot, boiling water.
  • Use a stick blender to combine and emulsify the cream.
  • To speed up the process, place the cup in an ice water bath as you mix, slowly bringing down the temperature to prevent the glass from shattering.
